“Adopt A Band Student”
Purpose: “Adopt A Band Student” is an opportunity for younger band students to receive extra help from a high school band member.
Benefits: Younger students receive extra help from an older band student with no additional cost to the parent. High school students receive volunteer hours for the “Michigan Student Service Award” and/or NHS and the satisfaction of helping a younger band student improve their musicianship.
How: A high school band member will be assigned to help a 6th, 7th, or 8th, grade student interested in private lessons. Both students must play the same instrument.
When: All lessons will be after school at a time arranged by both students and parents. Lesson times are listed on the back of this form. You must choose from one of these times.
Where: Lessons will be held at the Intermediate School or High School. Both students will indicate below a time/place preference. Mr. Jarve and Mr. Carter will coordinate students and lessons.
Expectations: All lessons must have a band director present to supervise and assist both students. Both students must agree on a coordinated time/place for the lesson. If a student cannot make a scheduled lesson, he/she must contact the other student 24 hours in advance. If a student misses two lessons he/she will discontinue lessons.
